Promoting entrepreneurship
at universities in eastern Germany

Questionnaire in the context of the OECD co-operation project
with the Commissioner for the New Federal States and
the governments of the states in eastern Germany

The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) is carrying out a project entitled “Strengthening Graduate Entrepreneurship: skills, competences and start-up support” in cooperation with the Commissioner for the New Federal States at the Federal Ministry of the Interior and representatives of the local state governments in eastern Germany. The project’s goal is to understand better the structures for encouraging and supporting entrepreneurship, particularly in the university environment, and to present stakeholders with recommendations.

We would like to ask your university to take part in our online survey, in which all public universities and institutes of higher education in eastern Germany are being invited to participate. The questionnaire asks about the strategies, practices, infrastructure and resources that your university makes use of in promoting entrepreneurship. By filling in the questionnaire, you can contribute to improving understanding and can provide input for promotion policy.

Please complete the questionnaire online by 23 November 2012 at the latest. Thank you for your support.

If you complete the questionnaire, your university will receive:

  1. A report on the status quo and the potential for development within entrepreneurship support at the university (i.e. existing and planned activities)
  2. 2. Information on Good Practices at other universities (in the region and throughout the OECD member countries) which can be used as inspiration for further developing entrepreneurship support activities at your university.
  3. 3. Good Practices at your university will also be made available to other universities, provided that your institution has agreed to this.

The report (1) will be made available as a PDF document. Steps 2 and 3 will take place at a later date (est. January/February 2013), when the survey of all universities in eastern Germany is complete. Aside from being used to compile the specific report on each university, the data gathered in the survey will be anonymised and then evaluated for (i) an OECD report on promoting entrepreneurial thinking and behaviour at universities in eastern Germany (to be published in 2013), and (ii) an international OECD report on Skills for Entrepreneurship.
